Department Profile
The Department of English of Mannaniya College of Arts and science, is entering its 29 th year along with the institution, proudly sharing it's eventful history of academic dialogues and creative interactions, inside and outside the campus, with the benign vision of facilitating and linguistically equipping its student fraternity. Nevertheless persisting as a two faculty department, since the English language is endorsed as an integral part of the undergraduate curriculum, the department was fortunate enough to cater to, and touch the heart of each and every undergraduate student who has sojourned through the portals of this magnanimous institution. The department has launched many novel initiatives to enhance and bridge the soft skill- gap of youngsters, by giving special emphasis to and upgrading the indispensable communication skills. The English department, by benevolently coordinating all the other language departments of the institution, has conducted multiple programmes including vivacious quizzes, debates and discussions. The most commendable of all our collaborative efforts was the successfully organised two day National seminar on Languages in prospect of the NEP, in October 2023. Together the language departments are envisioning a few projects including a literary club( Reading & Writing Forum), an annual journal/magazine, incorporating students too. A prestigious literary publication by the language faculties is also on the cards.
Now, with the FYUGP round the corner, the English department has geared itself up ready, decked with almost a dozen job-specific, intriguing as well as irresistible courses, and is confident and well poised, to fascinate the next generation of the millennials too, with its rich resources from language and literature.
